bookshelves: to-read-social-psych, unfinished-reads

My issue with this book, which is one I've tossed aside after 60 pages, is not so much that it's poorly done or that it's hard to understand - in fact, the exact opposite is true.

The issue is that this book is simply more in depth about psychology and psychological processes than I truly have a short-term interest in. This is more the type of book you keep near your desk or bedside, read a 12 page chapter or so, and digest. This may be a book I need to own and do that with as opposed to tear through it after borrowing it from the library and then hating myself as a slog through it.

Penny I'm having exactly the same experience with this book! I can't say anything bad about it and I recognize its merits, but at the same time I can't make myself get interested in it, and now it needs to go back to the library in a few days...

Hady El Khodary I think we share the same opinion about the book, you need to rest &"digest"

Andrew Clark I think this is spot on. I've tossed it aside as well for the very same reasons. In no way am I looking to speak negatively about the book, just not a topic I can bring myself to work through at this level of detail.

Sam Gilbert I noticed that there are many short summaries of Kahneman's book listed in Goodreads's catalog. Perhaps one of those would be a better choice for you.

Tom I got it as a book-on-tape which helped me "read" it s-l-o-w-l-y, and each day have a new fascinating tidbit to dwell on. Definitely not the book to read through quickly. Perhaps buy it and read a chapter a week.
