it was ok

This book was too long, in my opinion, for a simple concept. Having read The Power of Habits just before this book I found a lot of repeated information which was a bit boring to have to reread. Some of the concepts were interesting but I found that most of this "New Information of how are minds work and what we're doing wrong" was common sense. If a person just sat down and logical thought he/she would have come to the same conclusion. I also felt that the explanation of different psychology topics was too overdone. So much so that I lost the point of the topic quickly. Also, I seem to be seeing this habit many times in psychology books where they automatically assume the average human brain to be much less intellectual than it is capable of being. For example, I remember at the beginning there was a picture of an "angry" woman. The book immediately assumed our first thoughts of seeing this woman and then went on to say that if we had slowed down our thinking we may have come to a different explanation of what she was feeling and why. Now maybe the general populace would agree with what the book assumed but I didn't because I had different thoughts. And I saw this to be repeated many times throughout the book where my thoughts were different that what the book assumed. It got on my nerves and made it harder to fully appreciate the book. Give it a go but keep in mind that just because a book is very long doesn't mean it's packed with tons of information.
