About the author (2010)

SHABBIR AHMAD RANAwas awarded academic roll of honour by G.C.University, Lahore, from where he completed his masters degree in 1987. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the same prestigious institution, where he is involved in teaching and research supervision of MPhil and PhD students.He obtained MPhil in Applied Psychology from University of Punjab, Lahore. In 1996, he became Fellow and Diplomate of American Board of Medical PychotherapistsAt UK, he studied at Warwick University from where he did MSc. in Mental Health. He was awarded doctorate by University of Leicester in 2006.His areas of special interests include positive psychology, music psychology and psychotherapy. Dr Rana has co-authored Psychology and Social Sciences for MRCPsych and is currently working on Freud to Frankl : A Critical History of Psychotherapy'.TANVIR AHMAD RANAis a graduate of King Edward Medical University, Lahore. He is currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist at South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust, and has a number of teaching appointments. He is a Visiting Professor of Mental Health at Staffordshire University, Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at Warwick University, and Clinical Teacher at Keele University. Prof. Rana is the clinical coordinator for Wolverhampton University's physician assistants students and has been a tutor and examiner in psychiatry for medical students at Birmingham University.He is keenly interested in Psychodynamic and Existential Psychotherapies. He has been conducting the weekly Balint Group for the last four years and is also the Psychotherapy Tutor for his Trust. Prof. Rana is in the process of publishing his second collection of essays, Beside Neckar's Bank, and a critical history of philosophy, Socrates to Sartre.
